The 69th annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off in glorious style tonight as stars walked the prestigious red carpet in the French Riviera town.

The opening night screening at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès was Woody Allen's Café Society starring Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart.

But for the waiting crowds, the show on the crimson carpet was just as important.
