At least six people died over the holiday weekend after torrential rains inundated rivers in both Texas and Kansas, triggering flash floods that wiped out entire roadways, washed away mobile homes and prompted several evacuations.
Authorities in both states said that two boys – ages 10 and 11 – remain missing following Friday's deluge and that efforts organized to rescue them have shifted focus towards recovering their bodies.

The 10-year-old vanished after falling into a swollen river in Texas's Parker County and the 11-year-old disappeared after being swept away by a river's rising waters in Kansas.

A 23-year-old woman died when a car she was riding in was pulled into the flooded Cypress Creek early Sunday morning, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office official.

The car's driver and another female passenger managed to make it to safety, but Florida Molima's body was found several hours later, some eight miles downstream.

Four people died when floods struck Washington County in Texas, which is located between Austin and Houston. Officials claim that when nearly 17 inches of rain fell on the area, two motorists went missing.

Both bodies were located on Saturday, police confirm. Pyarali Rajebhi Umatiya, 59, of College Station, was found in her submerged vehicle, while Darren Charles Mitchell, 21, a National Guardsman from Navasota, was discovered not far from his overturned truck.

Officials are waiting to recover a body that was located by helicopter search teams near Austin, a police spokesman tells PEOPLE.

Law enforcement officials confirm that Lela Holland, 64, of Washington, Texas, was also died over the weekend as a result of the flash floods.

Authorities claim she died when her mobile home filled with floodwaters.

Jimmy Wayne Schaeffer, a 49-year-old Brenham man, was swept away after driving his truck into high waters, according to officials. Authorities have recovered his remains.
