These are the astonishing scenes where actors wearing military fatigues hired by a French internet company storm a beach outside a hotel filled with Hollywood A-listers as part of a sickening PR stunt.

The company sent the six men on a high-powered rigid inflatable boat, showing a large black flag, to the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, 30 minutes outside Cannes.

Heavily-armed security forces have been patrolling Cannes as a result of last year's deadly suicide attacks on Paris.

According to France's National Police: ''It was not a terrorist attack. It was a communication effort and publicity for an Internet site.'
