He's no William Tell.. and Kate's no Katniss! Duke and Duchess of Cambridge try their hands at archery on royal visit to Bhutan - but succumb to a fit of the giggles after missing the target

They are a famously sporty - and competitive - couple. So it was not entirely surprising that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tried their hand at archery, Bhutan's national sport, on their trip to the kingdom today.

But even after being allowed to stand slightly closer to the target, their arrows went nowhere near, with Kate bursting into laughter (left) at her attempt.

If she was hoping to emulate the archery prowess of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games, she will need to put in a little more practise.

Wills didn't fare much better - as Kate's expression (centre) testifies - with his two arrows overshooting the target, heading for the road behind a grassy bank.

She and William were no more successful when they tried out Khuru, the nation's second most popular sport which was developed by cow herders who would fashion large darts out of tree branches and bird feathers (right).
