The Royal occupant of the golden stool, his royal majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu ll has asked the American government to assist the country in the upcoming general elections.
He said America, unlike Ghana is well developed in terms of democracy and elections and therefore stand in a better position to resource the country's Electoral Commission and other stakeholders for a free, fair and transparent elections.
His royal majesty who disclosed this to newsmen when the U.S. Ambassador, to Ghana Robert Peter Jackson paid him a courtesy call said "your government should explore every means possible to ensure that the country's general elections is successful".
"There would not be any need sending the country aid and assistance when there is violence, you should do it now by providing the electoral commission with materials and financial support for this year's polls", he intimated.
Mr Robert Peter Jackson, US Ambassador to Ghana assured his royal majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II of his government's readiness and preparedness to assist the electoral commission in this year's polls.
"The U.S government has interest in the country's peace and therefore cannot have it breached as a result electoral violence. You can be rest assured that my government will do everything possible to ensure free, fair and transparent polls" he said.
